Community is what we do!
Glamorgan Voluntary Services (GVS) supports community and charitable organisations operating in the Vale of Glamorgan and manages three community buildings. If you require a community space in Llantwit Major or Penarth for exercise classes, choir practice, meetings or even office space, our buildings could meet your needs.
Third Sector Capital Fund 2023
The Cardiff and Vale of Glamorgan Regional Partnership Board has allocated £150,000.00 funding from the Welsh Government’s Housing with Care Fund (HCF), to support new third sector community services in Cardiff and the Vale of Glamorgan. The Third Sector Capital Fund is open for applications from Tuesday, 5th September 2023, with a deadline for submission of 12pm on Friday, 29th September 2023.

Advance Notice of Annual General Meeting and Nomination to Glamorgan Voluntary Services (GVS) Board of Trustees
The GVS 2023 GVS Annual General Meeting will be held “in person” at St. Paul’s Community Centre, Arcot Street, Penarth, CF64 1EU on Wednesday, 25th October at 10.00am finishing by 12noon followed by a light buffet lunch. Further details on how to register will be sent a little later but this is to give you notice so that you can save the date.
FoodShare Pantry gets a beautiful new makeover!
Our FoodShare Pantry at CF61 in Llantwit Major continues to grow and go from strength to strength. July saw the completion of the room makeover with new external doors directly into the pantry, a clean lick of white paint throughout and a beautiful new wood floor.
Sue Dickson, local artist, raises over £1,100 for MND Association
Over the weekend of the 3rd and 4th of June at CF61 in Llantwit Major, local artist Sue Dickson had an exhibition and sale of her life’s art work. All proceeds were in aid of the Motor Neurone Disease Association, a cause very close to the heart of the Dickson family. Hoddnant was open to the public between 11am and 3pm both days, with refreshments available for visitors.

Funding available for youth project or activity
Glamorgan Voluntary Services is delighted to announce that applications are now open for the 2023/24 Youth Led Grant fund. The grant can fund youth volunteering projects and activities that take place in the Vale of Glamorgan up to a maximum of £1500. The deadline for submitted applications is Friday 27th October 2023

GVS TRAINING - How to Market Your Community Event
This is a practical session equipping you with invaluable techniques and tips to market your community event using both free and low cost marketing tools. If you are responsible in your organisation/community group for publicising events but have limited to no experience, this workshop is for you. By the end of the session you will be equipped with the knowledge and techniques to market your event effectively to the local community.
GVS TRAINING - Introduction to Social Media workshop
This session is aimed at beginner level or someone who has recently acquired responsibility for their organisation’s social media channels. It will help equip you with the basic knowledge whilst ensuring you adhere to appropriate social media etiquette. Social media is a free marketing tool to reach out and engage with more people. Using social media appropriately and deciding on the right platform to engage with your audience is the first steps to success.
