Glamorgan Voluntary Services (GVS) offers a range of training courses specific to the Third Sector and partner organisations. Our current training programme includes:

Being a Trustee - learn the essentials of running a voluntary group or charity

8 August 2023 | 10.00 - 11.30

Being a trustee can be a daunting prospect, particularly if a person has no previous experience. This training session is there to provide an informal overview of the role and responsibility of being a trustee. By the end of the training, participants will:  

  • Understand the purpose of the governing document and how this differs from policies and procedures

  • Understand the concept of different legal structures, including limited liability

  • Know where to access the essential trustee guidance 

The session will take place online using Zoom. 

Recruiting, Selecting and Managing Volunteers

An Introduction to Social Media

This session is for people who are thinking about using social media as a marketing tool to reach out and engage more people in your service. If you have just been assigned the role of social media co-ordinator but not posted news on behalf of an organisation before, this session is for you!

  • The do’s and don’ts

  • Introduction to Facebook, Twitter and Instagram

  • Posting engaging content

  • Social media etiquette

How to Market your Community Event

This is a practical session equipping you with invaluable techniques and tips to market your community event using both free and low cost marketing tools. If you are responsible in your organisation/community group for publicising events but have limited to no experience, this workshop is for you. By the end of the session you will be equipped with the knowledge and techniques to market your event effectively to the local community.

An invaluable step by step beginner level introduction to the key features, giving you the skills and knowledge to confidently use Twitter. At the end of the session you will be able to: 

  • Send, reply to and delete a tweet

  • Use handles and hashtags effectively

  • Engage in a Twitter conversation

  • Recognise Twitter etiquette and good practice

  • Choose a Twitter dashboard e.g. Hootsuite or Tweetdeck

  • Integrate Twitter into your social media strategy
