The King’s Coronation shines a light on volunteering
To mark His Majesty The King’s Coronation on Saturday 6th May 2023, thousands of organisations across the country are getting together to give us the chance to help out in our local communities.
Here in Wales, we are using this opportunity to:
• Recruit more volunteers to existing vacancies
• Signpost more people to opportunities in their local communities and across Wales
• Signpost people and organisations to useful resources about volunteering
Volunteering is for anybody, it has no barriers and can benefit all ages, backgrounds, cultures and abilities. You do not need any skills or experience, Glamorgan Voluntary Services (GVS) can find an opportunity that is right for you.
There are many reasons why people choose to volunteer, each of them as valid as the next. It may be because you have time on your hands, you want to do something worthwhile, or have a particular skill you want to use to benefit others. You may want to build your confidence or brush up on existing skills to improve your job prospects. You may want to improve your health and wellbeing or enhance your CV.
The most important reason for volunteering is because you want to. There are now a large range of volunteering opportunities available that you can get involved in which include indoor, outdoor and home based.
There is opportunity to give your time on a regular time basis or you can volunteer on an ad hoc basis. Most of our recruiting organisations may also reimburse a travel expense and sometimes a lunch expense to volunteers.
You can check out the following websites and browse the volunteering opportunities.
