Vaccination encouraged before flu season gets into full swing
Public Health experts are urging those eligible to get their flu vaccine before the worst of the winter flu season begins. To maximize their protection against flu, people need to get vaccinated a few weeks before the flu season starts – usually it begins around early December. Vaccination will help to protect them from getting seriously ill before Christmas and the New Year when flu cases are expected to peak.

Cardiff and Vale University Health Board Updated Escalation Status
Cardiff and Vale University Health Board is in an improved position thanks to the collaborative efforts of colleagues and partner organisations, and importantly the support of the public. Subsequently the Health Board has de-escalated the status from Business Continuity Incident to Level 4 (extreme pressure) effective today (November 9th 2023). The situation will continue to be routinely assessed, however there is a considerable amount of work still to be done to maintain this stability more longer term.

Due to significant and sustained adverse demand on services, particularly within the Emergency Unit, Cardiff and Vale University Health Board has declared a Business Continuity Incident.
