PC Martin Baggett is currently Wales’ only dedicated Hospital Liaison Officer. Originally a Neighbourhood Beat Manager dedicated to the University Hospital of Wales, his role was expanded around a year ago to cover all hospital sites across the Health Board.

The Emergency Unit at the University Hospital of Wales remains under significant pressure, much like Emergency Departments across Wales. However, over the last two years, colleagues at Cardiff and Vale University Health Board have worked tirelessly to put improvements in place to transform the environment for both patients attending and colleagues working within the Emergency Unit.

On Monday 2nd September, the maternity and neonatal units at Princess of Wales Hospital (POW) within Cwm Taf Morgannwg (CTM) University Health Board will close for 12 weeks to allow urgent and essential refurbishment work to take place.
