ABOUT NCI ST DONAT’S BAY
NCI St Donat’s Bay is located within the BP building fronting the beach at St Donat’s Bay. Since opening for watchkeeping in 2021 NCI St. Donat’s Bay volunteers have logged over 10,000 hours of watches, logged over 8,000 vessels and has been involved in initiating or assisting the Coastguard in 15 incidents.
The aim of the NCI St Donat’s Bay station is to provide safety, support and advice to coastal users at St Donat’s and surrounding communities. The station aims to provide education to the community and students at the College on nautical knowledge, search and rescue and accident prevention. Volunteers often gain valuable friendships and bonds with the community whilst enjoying volunteering as a watchkeeper to keep the local community safe.
Time commitment: The station is open Thursday through to Monday (inclusive). Watches are 4 hours each and usually crew attend 1 watch per week although we are very flexible and understanding especially of those who work full time.
Expenses reimbursed: We do not have travel expenses. We expect volunteers to be reasonably local as there are also stations at Nell’s Point and Porthcawl so travelling is minimal.
Training: Full training is provided.
