Two thirds of public unaware of life-saving whooping cough vaccine for pregnant women
Following the recent warning from health experts that whooping cough is circulating more widely this year, a survey conducted by Public Health Wales revealed the majority of respondents were unaware that pregnant women are eligible to get vaccinated from the disease.
The dates Year 8 pupils will receive their HPV vaccine to protect them from certain cancers
Secondary school pupils aged 12 and 13 are set to receive an important vaccine in the coming weeks to protect them from several types of cancer. The Cardiff and Vale School Nursing Immunisation Team will be offering the HPV vaccination to children in Year 8, along with those in Year 9, 10 and 11 who missed out in Year 8.
Award for pioneering work that benefits children with heart conditions
Children across Wales with a heart condition called Supraventricular Tachycardia (SVT) are benefitting from pioneering work by clinicians in the Children’s Heart Unit and Paediatric Consultants in South Wales Paediatric Cardiovascular Network as well as patients and their families. It has led to the University Hospital of Wales being recognised as a Centre of Excellence.

The Joint Committee on Vaccination and Immunisation (JCVI) have announced that a COVID-19 spring booster vaccine should be offered to:
• people aged 75 years and over
• residents in a care home for older adults
• individuals aged 6 months and over who have a weakened immune system
