Volunteers in your area needed

As a Retail Assistant you'd gain valuable experience of working in the retail industry. Tenovus Cancer Care would help assist you expand your skills set and give you experience to feature on your CV. Make gaining experience count and help give back to your local community.

Our shops in local communities are crucial to us raising vital funds. We'd love you to volunteer your time and commitment to help us make a difference. As a Retail Assistant you’ll be the friendly face that puts the shop together and looks after our customers.

As a Customer Service Assistant Volunteer you can help to:

  • Speak with customers, making them welcome and answering questions

  • Serve customers at the till

  • Accept donations from the public

  • Put goods on display in the shop

  • Maintain high levels of shop standards, presentation and cleanliness

  • Generate add-on sales and Gift Aid conversion through high levels of customer service

  • Complete Gift Aid shop paperwork

  • Support the Shop Manager in carrying out shop security procedures

  • Promote awareness of the charity and the services that we provide

  • Assist the Shop Manager with activities such as stock take and general clerical duties such as filing and sorting the post

However you are not limited to these roles . You are encouraged to get involved in different departments of the shop.

Time commitment: We know time is precious and we’re grateful for any time you give. . Ideally we look for around 4 hours a week, however so we’re very flexible and can work around your needs. Even if this is just an hour of your time. Let us know what you can do in the application form. 
Training: Full training will be provided.
Expenses reimbursed: Expenses will be reimbursed in line with organisational policy.
Selection procedure: Informal discussion, application form completion and 2 references.
