Role: VEST Community Transport - Driver

Location: Cardiff

Salary: £1643 per month (before stoppages)

Hours: Full Time 37hrs per week Monday – Thurs (9 - 5), Friday (9 - 4.30)

Closing date: 17 June 2022

This is no ordinary role.

You will be part of a close-knit team who delivers a valuable door to door service for members of the public that are registered with the Charity, predominantly working within the County boundaries of Cardiff.

 A basic knowledge of area and driving skills would be advantageous.

Roles & Responsibilities:

·       To drive and operate, Dial a Bus / Ring a Ride Service and Community Transport vehicles as directed by the Operations Manager or the administration team.

·       To ensure that safe driving standards are maintained at all times.

·       To ensure that passengers are carried safely and in accordance with any relevant legal requirements and company procedures/training specifically MIDAS.

·       To ensure that daily safety checks, vehicle maintenance and cleaning of vehicles are carried out and that any faults are reported immediately to the Operations Manager or administration team.

·       Familiar with, and maintain all safety and medical equipment supplied in the vehicles.

·       Responsible for the collection of fares and to ensure that the administration team is informed of any alterations to fares or passenger numbers.

·       Ensure that fleet vehicles are kept clean at all times.

·       Overall responsibility for the vehicle during driving operations, including the control of accident/incident and breakdown procedures.

·       To attend training sessions as directed by the Operations Manager.

·       To undertake any other tasks as may be reasonably required by the Operations Manager or a nominated person.

About You:

·       Must hold a current D1 Licence.

·       Be over the age of 25 (for insurance purposes) No more than 3 penalty points.

·       Excellent customer service skills, friendly and approachable as you will be dealing with members of the public, many of whom are elderly, disabled or have health problems.

·       Physically fit as the role will involve loading and unloading wheelchairs or small scooters.

·       Positive can-do attitude.

·       Good communication skills, resilience, flexibility and an empathetic nature.
