Volunteer Supporting Substance Use and Addiction
Brynawel House is a residential rehab centre for adults with problems relating to substance use and addiction. We also offer a specialist rehabilitation programme for people with alcohol related brain damage.
We are based in a beautiful mountain location in Llanharan, only a 20-minute drive from Bridgend and Llantrisant. We have 21 treatment places at any one time.
We are looking for volunteers aged 18+ to help within a variety of volunteering opportunities.
We have recently employed a part time Horticultural Therapist who is working with the existing 2 gardening volunteers to develop the 4-acre site in Brynawel, with a short-term aim of the charity becoming more self-sufficient in growing fruit and vegetables and a longer-term aim of establishing a small social enterprise garden centre.
So, if you have an interest in gardening, we would love to hear from you. We have a Horticultural advisor who works with us, so we can help new gardeners develop a range of skills; for example, working with cuttings, designing gardens, developing plants for sale from seed onwards, working in our allotment and kitchen garden.
We have a very busy admin office, so if you have receptionist or admin skills we can find something meaningful around your skills and experience. It may be you can teach literacy skills.
In fact there is a large range you can get involved in, driving, Whatever skills you have we will look to utilise this within the organisation.
Time commitment: Days and hours are negotiable with the organisation.
Expenses reimbursed: Travel expenses are reimbursed.
