Family and Friends Peer Support

Our Family & Friends Peer Support groups provide a safe, welcoming space for those supporting loved ones in recovery. As a volunteer, you’ll guide conversations, offer emotional support, and help family members and friends find comfort and connection during their own journey.

What You’ll Do:

  • Facilitate group discussions for loved ones of individuals in recovery

  • Provide a listening ear and share helpful resources

  • Encourage self-care and offer practical advice on supporting someone in recovery

Who We’re Looking For:

  • Volunteers with personal experience supporting someone in recovery or who understand its impact on families and friends

  • Compassionate, empathetic individuals with good communication skills

Why It Matters:
Supporting someone in recovery can be challenging, and many loved ones feel alone. Your role will make a real difference in helping families and friends feel empowered and connected.

Time commitment:  A suggested weekly time commitment is 4 hours, days and hours negotiable with the organisation.
Expenses reimbursed:
Travel expenses are reimbursed.
Training provided:
Full training is provided.
Selection procedure:
Informal discussion, application form completion, 2 references and a disclosure and barring check (cost met by organisation).
