Community Safety Support Driver

The South Wales Fire and Rescue Service, Community Safety and Partnerships department delivers various initiatives and projects within the community which require the use of service vehicles.  We are looking for suitable volunteers to transport various support vehicles to and from community events. To set up and position the vehicles at the various events and to assist in the delivery of key safety messages alongside our existing teams. Current vehicles used are as follows:

·        Road Safety ‘Crashed’ Car (Trailer) – Need full Clean UK Driving Licence

·        Firefighter Cadet Appliance – Need full Clean UK Driving Licence with Cat C

·        Minibus – Need full Clean UK Driving Licence with Cat D1 (Not 101 prior to 1997)

·        Community Safety Educational Engagement Vehicle (EEV) – Need full Clean UK Driving Licence

South Wales Fire & Rescue Service is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and vulnerable adults, and expects all volunteers to share this commitment.

All volunteers will undertake the required necessary checks at the appropriate level for their duties

Location of role: Varying locations throughout the South Wales Fire and Rescue Service Area which encompasses 10 Unitary Authorities
Hours and Commitment: Hours are flexible and may depend on dates and times of initiatives or events. Suggested minimum of 4 hours per month Activity usually takes place between the hours of 8:00am to 18:00pm, Mon-Fri with occasional weekend hours .
Expenses: Out of pocket and travel expenses will be reimbursed as agreed upon commencement
Training: All drivers will be required to undertake a half day or full day acceptance course with SWFRS Driver Training upon commencement (vehicle type dependant).
