Volunteers – Independent Monitoring Boards

We are currently looking for new volunteers to join the Independent Monitoring Board (IMB) at 5 prisons across Wales (HMP Cardiff, Parc, Swansea, Usk/Prescoed, Berwyn, and Eastwood Park (Gloucestershire)).

The IMB helps to ensure that proper standards of care and decency are maintained. Applicants do not need any special qualifications or experience as we will provide all necessary training and support.

Candidates need to be over 18 years of age and live within approximately 25-35 miles of the prison. You need to be enthusiastic, open minded, possess effective communication skills and have the ability to exercise sound, objective judgement.

We encourage applications from people from minority ethnic communities, young people, those of working age, and people with disabilities, as these groups are under-represented on our existing Boards.

Closing date for applications is 30 October 2022. Campaign reference, to be quoted on application, is 1282/Wales Cluster/2022.

Please visit the IMB website for further information and to apply: https://www.imb.org.uk/join-now/current-vacancies/

Time commitment: The time commitment is approximately 2 to 3 visits per month.
Training provided: Full training is provided.
Expenses reimbursed: Travel expenses are reimbursed.
Selection procedure: Informal discussion, application form completion, 2 references and a disclosure and barring check (cost met by organisation).
If you are interested in this opportunity, please contact us using the form below.
