Volunteer Minute Taker

The Board is looking for an experienced minute taker to:

  • Attend all board meetings

  • Take an accurate record of the discussions and any actions raised

  • Type up the minutes within the agreed time frame

  • Send the completed minutes to the Chief Executive and Chair with the agreed time frame

  • Make amendments to the minutes as required

The Board meets six times a year to discuss and agree key decisions and actions.  Meetings are normally held on Friday mornings.

The Board of Management is made up of volunteer trustees who govern and lead the charity to ensure if fulfils its aims and complies with charity and other law.

We are looking for a volunteer who:

  • Has experience of minute taking

  • Is able to use and understand formal language required in minutes

  • Is able to write or type quickly during the meeting

  • Is able to follow (sometimes complex) discussions and key points, comments and actions

  • Has excellent written and grammar skills

  • Is professional, confident and would feel comfortable in a board level environment

  • Is able to understand and follow YMCA Barry policies and procedures, including confidentiality and data protection

Time commitment:  Meetings take place six times a year.
Expenses reimbursed: Out of pocket expenses are reimbursed.
Training provided: Full in-house training is provided.
Selection procedure:
Informal discussion, application form completion and 2 references.
