Transport patients to and from hospital appointments

The role is to undertake non-emergency planned patient journeys conveying patients who can walk unaided or with minimum assistance.   You must be the owner of a car with minimum four doors and is fully comprehensive insured (you may need to notify your insurer).

You would:

  • Transport patients safely between their place of residence and designated treatment centres and clinics

  • Provide care and assistance, within the level of training received and adhere to the Trust Code of Conduct and Standards of Professional behaviour

We are taking on volunteer car drivers as always. However, they need to be under 70 and with no underlying health conditions.  As the role is to take people to and from their non-emergency hospital appointments (they will already have been Covid-19 assessed), it is not suitable for a lot of people.

You will need to have a full driving licence (with no more than 3 points and no convictions for driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs), Insurance and MOT.

Time commitment:  Days and hours are negotiable with the organisation.
Expenses reimbursed:  Travel expenses are reimbursed.
Training provided:  Full training is provided.
Selection procedures:  An informal discussion, application form completion, references and an enhanced DBS check (cost met by organisation).
