Supporting Substance Misuse
We have a number of volunteering opportunities available supporting substance misuse. If you are aged 18+ you can get involved and help as a :
Recovery Buddy:
Empowering members of the community to increase their confidence and develop skills necessary in their recovery journey
Being an advocate for members by attending relevant meetings with the member e.g. DWP assessments, meetings with the GP
Supporting members as they fill in forms or to make phone calls rather than making phone calls for them
Signposting members to relevant organisations
Recovery champion
Representing Recovery Cymru at external networking events
Attending hubs to promote RC to members of the public
Giving joint presentations with staff to different student groups/organisations
Meeting potential new members in a local (to RC) location outside the centre
Attending VAC service user involvement sessions
Peer-support in other venues e.g. Pine ward, UHW and CAU
Time commitment: A suggested weekly time commitment can be 2 – 3 hours, days and hours negotiable with the organisation.
Training: Full training is provided.
Expenses reimbursed: Out of pocket expenses are reimbursed.
Selection procedure: Informal discussion, application form completion, 2 references and a disclosure and barring check (cost met by organisation).
