Support and resources for new and expecting mums this Mothers' Day

As we celebrate this Mothers' Day, Cardiff and Vale University Health Board is highlighting the support, information and resources available to mums and parents. Whether you’re expecting your little one, recently welcomed your baby or are a parent to a child under 16 — there’s lots of resources available.

NHS 111 Wales - Pregnancy Guide — The NHS 111 Wales website has a breath of information and useful tips about getting pregnant, being pregnant and caring for your new baby. It also offers detailed week-by-week guides and lots of expert videos for parents to explore.

Pregnancy Referral to Maternity Services — If you are newly pregnant, you’ll need to register your pregnancy with the Health Board’s Maternity Services. You can do so by filling out an online form.

Maternity Services — The Maternity Services webpage has lots of useful contact details, information and resources for expecting mums and new parents.

Going Home Following Your Birth - Cardiff and Vale University Health Board — If you’ve just welcomed your little one, new mums and parents can find out more about the days following delivery, safe sleeping, spotting the signs of illness in newborns, feeding, mental health support and lots more information to keep themselves and their little one(s) safe.

The respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) programme for pregnant women for infant protection - Public Health Wales — All expectant mothers and pregnant people are encouraged to get their RSV vaccine which can prevent babies from becoming seriously unwell or hospitalised. For most adults and children, RSV infection causes a mild illness, such as a cough or cold, which usually gets better on its own. However, for some, especially babies under one year of age and older adults, RSV can be very serious and can cause bronchiolitis and pneumonia.
