St Donats Choral present their summer concert – A Summer Celebration

This Sunday the 3rd of July, St Donats Choral present their summer concert – A Summer Celebration for the public at CF61 Community Centre in Llantwit Major. Starting at 2pm, the repertoire will feature an informal collection of favourites, including Fauré’s Cantique de Jean Racine.

Like many clubs and organisations, Covid hit St Donats Choral hard and, with membership dwindling, at one stage it looked as though the choir would have to disband completely.

Then, with the appointing of a new Musical Director in Conal Bembridge-Sayers, and a new permanent base to practice at CF61, the choir finally had a change in fortune, with members old and new joining them.

MD Conal is a teacher at the Royal Welsh College of Drama and Music in Cardiff, and is also the musical director for the high-profile Morriston Orpheus Male Voice Choir.

The choir practice every Monday evening between 7:30 and 9:30pm at CF61, and enjoy a coffee and chat halfway through. They are keen to recruit new members and no audition is required to join.

Concert tickets are available from Nickleby's Book Store (Llantwit Major), Ticket Source, the St Donats Chorale website and also by calling 07429 598820.  They cost £10, or £5 for under 16s and those in full-time education, and tea, coffee and home-made cakes after the concert are included in the price of the ticket.
