St Brides Major community comes together to celebrate rare butterfly

To help celebrate Wales Nature Week and the high brown fritillary butterfly which is now only found in one place in Wales – the Vale of Glamorgan – Butterfly Conservation teamed up with Ewenny Pottery and The Fox, St Brides Major and the 1st community butterfly sculpture competition was born!  The villagers and schoolchildren of St Brides Major created some amazing pieces of artwork which could be seen dotted around the village and school fence.  It was a great event bringing the community together, it’s hoped that this will become an annual event.

If anyone would like to know more about the work to save Wales’s rarest butterfly or would like to volunteer with us please contact Dot Williams dwilliams@butterfly-conservation.org or Andrea Rowe arowe@butterfly-conservation.org
