Be a Volunteer Treasurer and join our Trustees

Would you like to help our unique voluntary environmental organisation?

If you are over the age of 18, then you could be our volunteer treasurer and help to guide our organisation.

Main duties include:

  • Providing financial reports for Trustees’ meetings

  • Compiling annual accounts to be included in the Annual Report

  • Preparing an annual budget

  • Working with the Volunteer Administrator on day-to-day financial management

  • Attending Trustees meetings (6–12 per year) 

Required skills:

  • High level of numeracy

  • Good eye for detail

  • Competency with Excel

  • Comfortable working in a team of Trustees and with the Volunteer Administrator

Valeways is a unique voluntary environmental organisation that supports a diverse range of volunteers to re-open and promote the Vale of Glamorgan's glorious countryside.

Valeways main activities are:

Protecting and maintaining public rights of ways in the Vale of Glamorgan.
Promoting the health and social benefits of walking through its website, social media and waymarked self-guided walks.
Providing an ongoing programme of volunteer-led walks at different levels and an annual walking festival.

Time commitment: A suggested time commitment is 5 or 6 hours a month, possible more for end-of-year reporting.  Meetings take place during the working week at our Barry office, (open to flexibility if trustees are unavailable during weekdays).
Expenses reimbursed: Reasonable expenses can be claimed.
Training provided: A full introduction to the charity will be provided, and the previous treasurer has provided detailed instructions for the main activities.
Selection procedure:  An informal chat (telephone or in person), simple application form completion and two references.
