Skills and Volunteering Cymru (SVC) launches new befriending project
SVC are running a befriending project in the Vale for young people aged 5-18 who have a learning and/or physical disability. The project is called the Be Friends (Vale) project.
At the moment the project is digital and so would involve volunteers being matched with a young person on a one to one basis, and contacting them once a week for an hour or so to chat, play games and do activities together over the call. We are looking at moving the project back to face to face visits in the summer/new academic year, which would mean pairs of volunteers being matched with one child and then doing activities with them either in the young person’s home, or out and about in the local community. All travel and activity costs would be covered by SVC. Volunteers would need to be aged 18+.
