Prostate Cancer Risk Awareness Campaign

Prostate Cancer UK are working in partnership with NHS England to deliver a prostate cancer risk awareness campaign, launched Thursday 17th February and running until 31st March 2022.

The campaign will launch with a news story based on the latest statistics showing the impact of the pandemic on treatments for prostate cancer. The news story will run alongside a large-scale advertising campaign funded by NHS England, aiming to reach men 45+ and asking them to check their risk using Prostate Cancer UK’s 30 second risk checker (prostatecanceruk.org/risk-checker) so men understand their risk of prostate cancer and can make an informed choice about the PSA test.

We’re running this campaign because referrals and treatment volumes for prostate cancer fell significantly in the pandemic with fewer men coming forward to their GP, and this has led to prostate cancer accounting for a substantial proportion of the cancer ‘treatment gap’ (the shortfall in numbers of patients starting cancer treatment since the pandemic began compared with usual levels).

If you have any questions about the campaign, please contact Joe Woollcott at Prostate Cancer UK (joe.woollcott@prostatecanceruk.org)
