About Us

In 1998, a group structure was formed with The Cadarn Housing Group as the parent company and Newydd Housing Association (1974) Ltd as a subsidiary. Two more companies have since been added to the group, Living Quarters (Lettings and Sales) Wales Ltd and Newydd Maintenance Ltd, and in 2024 Cadwyn Housing Association agreed to join the Group. 

Newydd is a charitable housing association, that offers nearly 3,000 affordable homes for rent and sale to people where need is at its greatest in Mid and South Wales, working in several local authority areas. 

Cadwyn is a community housing association based in Cardiff. Cadwyn are a diverse business with experience in social housing management and development, social lettings, open market/ private rental lets and sales, temporary accommodation, commercial regeneration and an amazing recycling project.   

Newydd Maintenance Ltd is built on an in-house contractor model, designed to drive quality customer services, whilst achieving substantial planned growth and expansion, potentially outside of the group.  Newydd Maintenance Ltd is a subsidiary company which provides maintenance services to Newydd Housing Association. 

Living Quarters (Lettings & Sales) Wales Limited manages a small portfolio of market rent properties for Newydd and private landlords.

About the role

The Governance Officer will be responsible for coordinating and administering the Group’s governance arrangements and attending and servicing evening board meetings in accordance with the annual timetable. 

You will be responsible for GDPR responsibilities, including subject access requests, data protection policies, maintaining details of data breaches and providing staff with advice and support on GDPR queries. You will also lead the organisation of Company events and stakeholder consultations and administer the formal complaints procedure. 

You will also deal with day to day queries from the Governance Administrator including allocating and monitoring work and providing training and mentoring as required. 

About you

As Governance Officer you will need an understanding of governance or company secretary experience or data protection and compliance. You will be managing multiple projects and tasks so you will need to be able to juggle and prioritise your time effectively.  You must be an effective communicator and have strong written skills, including excellent keyboard and minute taking skills. 

You should have excellent office administration experience along with an awareness of corporate and regulatory legislation and relevant codes of governance and good practice.
