National Influencing Programme

Charities and CICs seeking to influence and achieve change in national policy and practice around specific issues within accommodation, social security, and refugees and asylum seeker support can apply for grants of £30,000 - £150,000.

This programme is open to charities and CICs with an income over £25,000 working directly or with others to influence those in power to tackle the causes and consequences of complex issues and the barriers people face. There is no upper limit for income.

Rising living costs and economic, political and policy challenges are making it much harder for many people. But for people already facing complex issues, the systems designed to support them are not fit for purpose and risk pushing them further into hardship and destitution.

Under this programme, we have three priority themes:

  1. Social security system

  2. Accommodation

  3. Refugees and Asylum Seekers

These themes were chosen based on evidence from the small and local charities we partner with and are areas where there are significant barriers to overcome and where change is needed the most.

Please take some time to read the eligibility information in our guidance document for further information about these themes and what we are looking for. You can read more about the three themes this programme covers below. Read the guidance in Welsh here/Darllenwch y canllawiau yn Cymraeg yma.

We are particularly interested in proposals led by or actively developed with user groups and/or people with direct lived experience of the relevant issues.

If your work meets our criteria, we encourage you to get in touch with us for an initial phone call before submitting an Expression of Interest. You can request a call by emailing us.

You will also need to complete a short Applicant Information Form and Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Form that includes contact information for your application and details of any partners.

This funding programme will not support service delivery or a charity’s core costs – please check our main funding page for information about other or future programmes.
