Community Safety Support Volunteer
The South Wales Fire and Rescue Service, Community Safety and Partnerships department delivers various initiatives and projects within the community. We are looking for suitable volunteers to support the promotion and delivery of key safety messages such as home safety and road safety education, and to participate in local engagement events and initiatives within our communities.
As a Community Safety Support Volunteer aged 16+ you would:
Attend and support the delivery of community safety initiatives and events throughout the SWFRS area
Act as community safety ‘champions’, to assist in the delivery of key safety messages and road safety education amongst our target groups
Distribute targeted information (literature) to local communities where required
Adhere to the policies and procedures provided by SWFRS at all times
Undergo awareness training in relation to the role
Attend volunteer group information, training and review sessions as agreed
South Wales Fire & Rescue Service is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and vulnerable adults, and expects all volunteers to share this commitment
Time commitment: Hours are flexible and may depend on dates and times of initiatives or events. Suggested minimum of 8 hours per month. Activity usually takes place between the hours of 8:00am to 18:00pm, Mon-Fri with occasional weekend hours.
Expenses reimbursed: Out of pocket and travel expenses will be reimbursed as agreed upon commencement.
Training provided: A full induction will take place to help you understand what SWFRS do, how we do it and how your role supports the delivery of community safety. Full awareness training will be provided to enable you to undertake this role effectively. Where possible, volunteers will work with Community Safety staff initially. Regular feedback and support will be provided
Selection procedures: An informal discussion, application form completion, 2 references. All volunteers will undertake the required necessary checks at the appropriate level for their duties.
