Carers Rights Day – Thursday 21 November 2024

This year, Carers Rights Day is on Thursday 21 November 2024 – and this year’s theme is recognising your rights.

Every day, 12,000 people across the UK become unpaid carers for a partner, family member or a friend – many of whom don’t see themselves as carers, often unaware of their legal rights and what they’re entitled to in terms of support and benefits. This year’s theme is ‘recognising your rights’ – and our aim is to help carers recognise and understand their rights, and to access the support available to them, whenever they need it.  Find out more here

With that in mind, Carers Wales are running online sessions on and around Carers Rights Day, that may be of interest to unpaid carers.  They include the following:

Track the Act Online Webinar on Carers Rights Day – Thursday 21st November 2024

Join Carers Wales at this informative online event that delves into the real-world implications of the Social Services and Wellbeing Act (Wales) 2014 for those providing essential, unpaid care to loved ones across Wales.

Through this webinar, attendees will have the invaluable opportunity to hear about the Track the Act report with insights from the carers survey and the information requests provided by local authorities, health boards and the Welsh Government. This will paint a picture that will create a deeper understanding of the triumphs and challenges carers face as they navigate the complex web of social services, healthcare systems, and community resources.
