Cardiff and Vale UHB announces new Chief Operating Officer

Paul Bostock has been appointed as Chief Operating Officer at Cardiff and Vale University Health Board.

Paul began his NHS career at Southampton General Hospital as a clinical coder in 1994 and has worked his way up through the ranks undertaking a number of general operational management roles in the English Health System.

Paul is currently the Operations Director for Family and Clinical Support Services at Hampshire Hospitals NHS FT and has previously held the position of Chief Operating Officer in both Surrey and Cornwall.

Commenting on his appointment Paul said “I am absolutely delighted to be joining Cardiff and Vale University Health Board and working in an established integrated health care system.  I visited the Health Board prior to my interview and was struck by the very warm welcome I received, as well as the passion and enthusiasm from those I met in improving the services to the people of Cardiff and Vale and the wider Welsh population.”

Paul will be starting his post in September 2022 and Caroline Bird remains in the interim COO role until the end July. Expressions of interest are currently being received for two interim posts to cover the operational areas of the UHB as part of internal development and an announcement on these appointments will be made in due course.
