Balanced Lives at Home - Action For Elders offers vital support for older people

Action For Elders has introduced Balanced Lives at Home - a new programme of online services - to help older people and those who care for them through Covid-19.

During the past year, we repositioned our in-person Balanced Lives programme to become a multi-faceted online help resource for the local individuals, volunteer and community groups. We offer a wide range of exercise sessions, social groups and mental wellbeing support. This is a bespoke service, provided by experts and tailored to individual needs.

 Balanced Lives at Home

We offer exercise and wellbeing programmes live via Zoom every week. We also offer on-demand programmes via our website: https://www.actionforelders.org.uk and YouTube https://bit.ly/ActionForEldersYouTubeChannel  These resources are FREE - Just Sign Up: https://www.actionforelders.org.uk/live-sessions/

Digital Inclusion – Delivering Practical Help Online

Delivering services online isn’t just a matter of making them available. Giving people access to those services is equally important. Many older people don’t have the technology, digital skills or basic Wi-Fi connectivity to allow them to access online services. Action for Elders offers bespoke technical support: ranging from dealing with connectivity isues to getting set up on Zoom. In special cases we are able to provide tablet loans to our participants.

Balanced Lives At Home – Our Digital Inclusion Programme:

·      Live Weekly ‘Zoom’ Mobility Classes - Daytime and Evening sessions available

·      Live weekly Wellbeing Q&A sessions to help with better eating, anxiety, stress and general wellbeing.

·      Monthly Book Club: Perfect for finding new friends through social discussion among people with similar interests.

·      On-demand videos: Improve strength and mobility, aid positive thinking, including videos on specific health issues such as arthritis, osteoporosis and falls.

·      Hands-on digital support available to help with digital problems or connection issues.

·      FREE TECH LOAN SCHEME AVAILABLE

Working Alongside the NHS

We have worked closely with the NHS and local authorities to provide care and support for older people and their carers. GPs, along with health and social care officers from local councils, refer people to us knowing they will benefit from our vital support services. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0CscF1rh3TE&t=12s
