Assisting the Emergency Services

We are looking for Volunteers aged 18+ (25+ for driving duties) to assist the Emergency Services, during Flood & Swift Water Rescue as well as adverse weather conditions such as Storms, Floods, Snow etc. and Civil Contingencies.

As a volunteer, you will also get to practice your skills by providing assistance at numerous events throughout the year, at sporting events such as Fun Runs, Bike Rides, Parades etc. this will include the use of First Aid, Radio equipment, map reading etc.

 Volunteers MUST BE ABLE TO DRIVE.

Time commitment:  This is an on-call volunteering opportunity, with some meetings on a Wednesday at the organisation base.  Other meetings take place on other days and locations.
Expenses reimbursed: Travel expenses are not reimbursed.
Training provided: All volunteers will be provided with basic training - First Aid, Communications, Map reading.  Further training for specialist rescue will take place after 12 months’ service and volunteers will be expected to remain active for at least 2 years after qualification.
Selection procedure: Informal discussion, application form completion, 2 references and a disclosure and barring check (cost met by organisation).
