Your voice matters to the Welsh Ambulance Service

THE Welsh Ambulance Service is inviting the public to shape the way services are delivered by joining its network.

The Trust is inviting more people to join its People and Community Network, which prides itself on developing and improving services provided by the Welsh Ambulance Service.

The Network was set up to enable people to take part in a range of activities including participating in reader’s panels, focus groups and ‘mystery shopper’ exercises.

You will have the opportunity to gain a greater understanding of how the service works, while the Trust ensures your voice, experience and ideas remain an essential priority.

The network is open to patients, carers, community groups or anyone with an interest in how the Welsh Ambulance Service works.

Wendy Herbert, Assistant Director of Quality & Nursing at the Trust said, “The voices of patients and service users, their carers and relatives, and the people of Wales are so valuable.

“Patients are at the heart of everything we do, so it’s important we hear first-hand from people with lived experience in order to deliver meaningful improvements.

“We will work alongside colleagues in the seven Health Boards across Wales and with the Citizen Voice Body (CVB), due to take affect from April 2023, to strengthen the voice of people and communities across health and social care services in Wales.”

Joanne Sutton, Patient Experience and Community Involvement Coordinator at the Welsh Ambulance Service, said: “Membership of the network has been growing steadily since its creation, but we want to do more.”

In order to grow and promote the network, the Trust has produced a multi-lingual animation in Welsh, English and British Sign Language (BSL), as well as a supplementary leaflet.

The online joining form has also been updated, and new promotional material has been produced.

Joanne said: “We will continue to work on accessibility to the network, specifically for people with a learning disability or sensory loss, and for those new to Wales where Welsh or English is not their first language.

“We want the network to be truly representative of the people of Wales and in turn, ensure our services support the needs of the communities we serve.”
