Youth Homeless Helpline Volunteer

Our Freephone helpline provides information and advocacy to young people across Wales who are homeless or at risk of homelessness.   Our aim is to ensure young people understand their rights and feel empowered to access the support they need when they need it.
The role is Flexible/Home based, responding to incoming helpline calls

The role:

  • Respond to helpline calls

  • Listen to young people in a non-judgmental and empathetic way

  • Provide tailored information, signpost/refer to appropriate services and offer advocacy when appropriate

  • Maintain confidentiality at all times whilst also considering safeguarding issues

  • Record accurate information

  • Participate in training, supervision and debrief sessions

Skills required

  • Friendly and approachable

  • Able to communicate clearly

  • Reliable, trustworthy and honest

  • Open-minded and non-judgemental

  • Have basic IT skills and access to email

Expenses reimbursed: Out of pocket expenses are reimbursed.
Training provided: Full training and ongoing support.  Access to additional training.
Selection procedures: An informal discussion, application form completion, 2 references and a disclosure and barring check (cost met by organisation).
