Walk-in Spring Boosters now available for vulnerable people at Mass Vaccination Centres
People eligible for a Covid-19 Spring Booster can now walk into a Mass Vaccination Centre (MVC) to receive their vaccine without making an appointment.
Over 75s, residents of care homes for older adults, and those aged five or over who are immunosuppressed were all chosen for the booster in line with advice from the Joint Committee on Vaccination and Immunisation (JCVI).
Cardiff and Vale University Health Board initially invited these more vulnerable groups to an appointment by letter or text, but now they can simply turn up to one of the health board’s two MVCs - at Woodland House in Cardiff or Barry Hospital - seven days a week between 10am and 7pm.
All eligible people will need to come forward for a vaccination before June 30 when the Spring Booster programme will come to an end.
The only dates the MVCs will not be open are Tuesday, June 6 and Wednesday, June 7 when members of the Royal College of Nursing (RCN) are set to take industrial action. Anyone who has been allocated an appointment on those days will be contacted and offered an alternative date, or can access a walk-in appointment at either vaccination site.
If you believe you are eligible for a Spring Booster but have not been called for a vaccination, please call 02921 841234 (Monday to Sunday, 9am to 5pm).
