Volunteering opportunity 19th October 2022
IFPL are a small aerospace company based on the Isle of Wight. We have developed a new product which, for certification purposes, needs to be tested on an aircraft. The test requires 35 ‘naïve’ participants to test the product on board an aircraft. The aircraft will not be flying or even moving.
At the St Athan airfield, we have access to a fully functional aircraft which is due to be dismantled.
So, our challenge is to get 35 people to St Athan to help carry out some testing. A few bullet points on this:
the participants must be 18 years of age or above.
Must be physically able (to be able to climb a flight of stairs independently).
Must be from a wide age range (so we cannot have all 21 year old students, for example)
Able to get to St Athan independently.
The test is likely to take about four hours of time (we could stagger the arrivals to make the duration shorter).
IFPL support a local charity called WightAID – so aligned to this ethos we would like to support the local charities being represented by the volunteers with a payment for the time spent (paid for four hours at minimum wage for each participant). The activity for the test should take each person about 30 minutes but the logistics means it will likely take 4 hours or so to complete the entire test.
The nature of the test means we need ‘naïve’ participants, so I cannot reveal too much about the precise mechanics of the test.
