Volunteer Drivers – (using organisation vehicle)

We are looking for volunteer drivers over the age of 18 to enhance our valuable Patient Support Service within our Llandough Hospital site.  Drivers should be confident when communicating, demonstrate excellent listening skills and be reliable. 

The service runs from Monday to Friday, between the hours of 12pm and 4pm. 

Volunteers are required to be available for a minimum of 2 hours per week . This role takes place on-site at Llandough Hospital, transporting patients, staff and visitors from various car park points to the main entrance of the hospital.
Volunteers will not be transporting patients to and from their homes to the hospital. You do not need a car for this role, you will be driving a vehicle provided by the Health Charity, and the Health Board pays for all fuel. 

Main tasks:

  • Welcome staff and visitors to the hospital

  • Pick-up and drop-off patients, service users and staff on-site only

  • Remind visitors of wearing masks, social distancing and hand hygiene procedures

Time Commitment:  Volunteers are required to be available for a minimum of 2 hours per week, between
12:00 - 4pm, Monday - Friday. Hours are flexible within the hours the service runs.
Expenses reimbursed: Travel expenses to and from the place of volunteering are reimbursed.
Training provided: Volunteers will need to undertake Cardiff and Vale University Health Board Training and Induction. Specific training topics for volunteer drivers include: The Driver Handbook, Overview of the Patient Transport Service, Safe Practice Month End procedures. Training needs will be identified through the supervision process and met through Cardiff and Vale UHB Training Programmes.
