Volunteer Birth Partners Needed for 2023

The Birth Partner project are recruiting volunteers to support pregnant women seeking sanctuary in birth and postpartum.

Role Profile
Volunteer Birth Partners are part of a 3-4-person team providing emotional and practical support during pregnancy, labour and eight weeks postnatally
Volunteers must maintain confidentiality, protection and safeguarding. 
Volunteers will also provide information and signposting (training provided)

  • Cardiff-based and women-centred - volunteers if living outside of Cardiff, must be able to get to Cardiff within 1 hour in order to participate in this opportunity

  • Able to commit for 18 months

  • Ability to support self-advocacy

  • Able to work in a culturally safe way

  • A positive and calm approach

  • Non-judgemental and strong communication skills

  • Basic IT skills

Upon application you will receive a self-led module and application form to be completed by Friday 23rd December 2022.

Applicants who demonstrate strongly the qualities and competencies we seek in their application will be invited to an interview during the week commencing January 9th 2023 and may be invited onto our training.

People with lived experience of seeking asylum will be guaranteed an interview.

Training dates: attendance is essential
All day, Saturday 21st & 28th January, in-person
All day, Tuesday 24th & 31st January, via Zoom
