Volunteer Activity Worker Assistant

Part of this role will be to assist with the facilitation of group sessions, assisting with assessments for accredited qualifications, and meeting and greeting our clients and helping to prepare activities beforehand. We are also holding drop in sessions once a week to allow the vulnerable women who we support to access their basic and essential needs. Volunteers aged 18+ will work alongside staff but will be responsible to the Activities Centre Co-ordinator and the Volunteer Co-ordinator and Mentor. 

 

  • Help to prepare the facility for the days planned activities

  • Meet and greet clients to prepare them for the activities

  • Assist in the facilitation of the activities to the group(s)

  • Assist in the assessments for accredited qualifications available to attendees

  • Assist in the provision of refreshments for the attendees

  • Help to ensure the facility is left tidy after the group session

  • When appropriate to assist clients who have “dropped-in” to collect basic and essential needs

  • Provide support, guidance and encouragement

  • Report any relevant information as appropriate to the project. Maintain confidentiality in accordance with Safer Wales Ltd confidentiality policy

  • Ensure health and safety procedures are followed

  • Ensure Safer Wales Ltd procedures and guidelines are followed

Time commitment: The nature of the volunteering at Safer Wales is to develop a relationship with the women and girls in a group setting so that specific support needs can be addressed and provide a regular service.  We ask that volunteers give a minimum commitment of four hours per fortnight to the project.
Expenses reimbursed: Out of pocket expenses are reimbursed.
Training provided: All volunteers receive induction training.  The aim of the training is to prepare volunteers for the volunteer role. Additional training will be offered.
Support and Supervision - Once recruited, the volunteer will receive regular group support sessions and supervision sessions.  Support will also be provided by the Activities Co-ordinator as and when needed.
Selection procedures:
 An informal discussion, application form completion, 2 references and a disclosure and barring check (cost met by organisation).
