Volunteer Activity Leader

Safer Wales Volunteering Service supports Safer Wales projects in helping victims of domestic abuse, sexual violence, and sexual exploitation. For the last 20 years we have been working with victims of domestic violence, rape, sexual abuse, exploitation and hate crime. Following the change that lasts model, Safer Wales Centre is working to help support vulnerable women to access to facilities, activities and other essential items.

Would you like to help us as a Volunteer Activity Leaders aged 18+?

Working alongside centre staff and with the help from volunteer Centre Assistants. You would:

  • Plan and deliver activities approved by the Activities Centre Coordinator

  • Potentially develop skills and knowledge of delivering accredited Agored qualifications

  • Work alongside staff, volunteers and clients to create a warm, inviting and safe environment for the women to attend while ensuring a safe space

  • Report any safeguarding concerns to the Activities Centre Coordinator and ensure health and safety standards and to adhere to the agreed risk assessments in place

  • Appropriately update any feedback forms, monitoring forms and to maintain a register of attendance for the sessions

  • Support the women within the group sessions and be open to carry out one to one work

  • Maintain confidentiality in accordance with Safer Wales Ltd confidentiality policy

  • Provide support, guidance and encouragement to clients

The nature of this volunteer role is to provide support to the Safer Wales team and to develop and lead on delivering activities.

Volunteers would need to be:

  • Non-judgmental

  • Approachable

  • Reliable

  • Adaptable

  • Creative and confident to deliver sessions around own skill set

  • Able to work as part of a team

and have

  • Excellent Communication & Listening Skills

  • Basic IT Skills

This is a fantastic opportunity to learn new skills, work in a team and develop relationships, develop personal skills and experience and get that satisfaction of helping others.

Time commitment:  A suggested minimum commitment is one morning/afternoon a week (Monday – Friday). Hours will range from 09:00 – 4:00pm with the possible option of evening hours in the future. The role is flexible and can be planned around the role holder’s availability. Days and hours negotiable with the organisation
Training provided: Full training is provided.
Expenses reimbursed: Travel expenses are reimbursed.
Selection procedure: An informal discussion, application form completion, 2references and a disclosure and barring check (cost met by organisation).
