Vale of Glamorgan Santa's Cause

The Vale of Glamorgan Council is currently running its annual Santa’s Cause campaign.

Christmas should be a time of happiness and celebration. Sadly, for many families in the Vale of Glamorgan it can be one of great stress, anxiety, and sadness.

Each year far too many children face the prospect of having little or nothing to open on Christmas Day. This can be heart breaking for them and their families.

In previous years Council teams have worked with local businesses and community groups to raise money to provide these children with presents. Increasing energy bills and the escalating cost of living crisis mean that even more families will be in this position in 2023.

Our Social Services team estimate that as many as 1,500 children who they support are likely to have nothing waiting for them on Christmas Day unless we are able to do something to help.

We are also becoming aware of an increasing number of adults who live alone with Council support, many of them older people and those living with disabilities, who are in similar circumstances.

The Council’s Santa’s Cause team is raising money to enable us to buy a gift for each child who may otherwise go without. If we can, we will also look to provide a gift or food package to vulnerable adults in similar need.

We are asking partners to support us by sharing information about the campaign with their colleagues. You can find more information and make a financial contribution online by visiting www.valeofglamorgan.gov.uk/santascause.

Any contribution you can make will help give a child a Merry Christmas and relieve the pressure and anxiety that hangs over many families at this time of year.

Sincere thanks in advance for any help that you can provide.
