Vale of Glamorgan PSB draft Well-being Assessment Consultation

The Vale Public Services Board (PSB) is consulting on its second Well-being Assessment  which will be published in April 2022.  The assessment is an important part of the PSB’s work as it covers issues relating to social, economic, cultural and environmental well-being in the Vale. The Assessment provides an analysis of the state of well-being for Vale as a whole and for distinct community areas. The Community areas used in this assessment of well-being are Barry, Eastern Vale and Western Vale and these are consistent with the areas used in the last well-being assessment published in 2017.

The assessment will inform the development of a Well-being Plan which must be published in 2023 in accordance with the Well-being of Future Generations Act.  The Plan sets out how the PSB will work to improve the well-being for our communities and brings the work of public and third sector organisations together to focus on making a difference.  As this is such an important document we are keen to hear from as many people as possible about the assessment and to receive feedback on our key findings and conclusions.

The Well-being Assessment has drawn on a range of national and local data, research and evidence and is made up of a suite of reports which bring together the many different factors which impact on our well-being. The assessment is structured by a number of reports, the A View of the Vale of Glamorgan – An Assessment of Current and Future Well-being brings together a summary of the findings of the assessment. There are also four detailed themed reports which can also be accessed through this report. We appreciate that the assessment is broad in its scope and by necessity is very detailed. Your time in reading all or part of the assessment is appreciated and we welcome your views either in response to the online survey or by emailing: ValePSB@valeofglamorgan.gov.uk  by the 13th February 2022.

Following the consultation we will revise the assessment to reflect feedback prior to it being approved for publication by the PSB in April. We will however, continue to update and refine the assessment as new data becomes available and we have the opportunity to analyse further some of the most significant issues for the Vale.
