Vacancy for Person Centred – Penarth Support Worker

We are looking for someone to come and work alongside myself and a young lady on a new exciting project based in the Penarth area. You will be working within the young lady’s home and her local community alongside her parents and forging a positive relationship with them will be key. Being able to react and adapt to changing/challenging situations in a calm, confident but sensitive way will be key for any successful candidate.

We are looking for an active person who can confidently support the young lady to connect with her community and support network. We need someone who sees the person’s potential to achieve her goals and live her best life. The young lady needs someone who can inspire her to be actively involved in a wide range of shared interests and activities. You must be someone who has the ability to develop and explore different ways to communicate and overcome any barriers that may be present.

The young lady enjoys a wide range of activities and is keen to learn and explore new things and expand her knowledge, we’re looking for someone with the same attributes. Whether it’s out walking, exploring local landmarks and cafes/restaurants or spending time at home watching movies, reading or completing jigsaws. It is important that you can provide encouragement and stimulation to get the most out of the activities and enjoy them. We are also looking for someone who can help the young lady rediscover some interests and activities such as swimming, playing music (Piano), going to the cinema and shopping whilst also being on the lookout for new opportunities.

Ideally you’ll be

·        a driver with access to a vehicle.

·        competent in using technology,

The most important thing is that you can provide the young lady with fun, inspiration and encouragement to not just live her best life but to thrive and develop.

If successful you will receive training in Positive Behaviour Support; Understanding Behaviours that Challenge, Autism Awareness as well as any other specialist training and support relevant to the post.

As an internal seconded employee your mileage will be covered in line with mirus policy.

Hours are flexible with opportunities to develop the role over time.
