Vacancy at Gibbonsdown Children’s Centre

We are looking for a Room Leader (Level 3 Childcare qualified or above) to join our lovely team at Gibbonsdown Children's Centre and support the Manager and Deputy Manager with all aspects of the setting. We are looking for the new team member to be able to run a room and be vocal and confident when doing this. The candidate will need to be reliable, well organised and be able to think on their feet. You will need to be enthusiastic, hard working and willing to work as part of a team. It’s essential that you can use your initiative and creativity to challenge, motivate and improve outcomes for all of the children in our care. You have to understand how to motivate staff members and get them to work to their full potential. Experience of working with or knowledge of Flying Start would be beneficial.

21 hours per week over Tuesday, Thursday and Friday

Essential criteria:

  • Level 3 childcare qualification or above

  • Understanding of how to motivate staff.

  • Sound knowledge of Early Years

  • Able to work alongside the deputy Manager in the day-to-day routine of the room.

  • Operate a key person system and liaise with parents, carers, and senior staff

  • Plan, organise and implement a programme of activities to meet the needs of this age group and each individual child’s needs and interests following the Curiosity Approach.

  • Have the ability to promote good practice in a professional manner

  • Have good organisational skills

  • Work as part of a highly motivated and professional team

  • Valid experience of working as a senior member of staff in a childcare setting.

  • Have a sincere love and passion for working with and educating children.

  • Have a good understanding of Safeguarding.

  • Be motivated and open to up-skill and improve their learning.

  • Have a strong belief in building-relationships with parents to provide sound and cohesive learning to our children.

  • Be full to the brim with energy and fun!

Desirable criteria:

  • Current paediatric first aid certificate

  • Current safeguarding certificate

  • Current/ transferable DBS

  • Food hygiene certificate

  • Able to speak basic Welsh
