Trusted charity quality mark moves to new supplier

This is an update on the arrangements for the Trusted Charity quality standard which has now been transferred to a new provider, The Growth Company.

WCVA has received confirmation that the Trusted Charity quality standard , which had been run by NCVO, has now been transferred to a new provider, The Growth Company

The Growth Company is a not-for-profit social enterprise with a purpose to enable growth, create jobs and improve lives in the communities it operates in.  The Growth Company already delivers quality standards to over 5,000 organisations (3,800 in the charity and third sectors), including Investors in People in the North of England, the matrix Standard for the Department for Education and a specific quality standard for the Law Society.

NCVO has said that it will remain as a strategic sponsor for the Trusted Charity standard and work with the Growth Company to ensure it meets the needs of the sector and retains the robust reputation it has developed since the scheme began.

Guidance has been issued by NCVO to assist organisations during this transition period which can be found here Trusted Charity Transfer. Organisations that currently hold the quality mark will continue to retain their award for three years, including if it extends past March 2022. Current holders of the award and those who were in the process of applying are being contacted by NCVO to confirm their permission to transfer their information to The Growth Company. Charities in this category who have not heard from NVCO yet are encouraged to contact them by email on trustedcharity@ncvo.org.uk.

NCVO’s Trusted Charity Online self-assessment tool will remain available until 31 March 2022. Organisations that have made use of this tool should visit the Trusted Charity Transfer website to understand the implications for their subscription, application and any evidence submitted, as the data on this service will be deleted at the end of March 2022.

Charities wanting to start a new application with The Growth Company can find further information on their website. The Growth Company are also developing their new self-assessment online tool which is available through an annual subscription. Whilst this is being set up, they are offering a 50% discount on the self-assessment fee.

WCVA will continue to support voluntary organisations in Wales with good governance and believes that quality assurance is an important aspect of organisational resilience . We are currently undertaking a review of Trusted Charity in Wales and will be listening to the views of the sector on how WCVA can support organisations with quality assurance in future.

We will continue to work with NCVO and The Growth Company to support the transition between providers.
