The 2024 Cowbridge Music Festival: Programme Announcement

We are thrilled to share with you this year's programme for the Cowbridge Music Festival! We hope that you will be as excited as we are about the artists and music that will be coming to Cowbridge this year.
The highly acclaimed Castalian Quartet will open the festival, joined by our Artistic Director Rosalind Ventris for a programme that culminates with Dvořák’s life-affirming Quintet in Eb major. The Castalian Quartet includes cellist Steffan Morris, who has performed at the festival before, and we are delighted to welcome him back, as well as our beloved Associate Artist Llŷr Williams, who this year will perform an exhilarating Beethoven- and Brahms-focused solo programme. Renowned soprano Mary Bevan will be joined by pianist Christopher Glynn and BBC NOW principals Alice Neary and Matthew Featherstone for an eclectic programme of beautiful French works. This year’s Young Artist will be the very talented young Welsh violist Edgar Francis, and he will be joined by the fantastic pianist Jâms Coleman.
One of the UK's finest brass groups—Connaught Brass—will present a programme of virtuosic music for this ensemble. The wonderful Cantemus Chamber Choir will mark Gustav Holst's 150th birthday (on the day!) with a performance of his Twelve Welsh Folksongs. In our 'By Candlelight' series, violinist and composer Simmy Singh will present her genre-defining new classical-electronic works, and pianist Libby Burgess will perform a selection of Bach's 48 Preludes and Fugues. The Festival Evensong at Holy Cross Church returns this year by popular demand—an opportunity to celebrate the conclusion of the festival with some much-loved Welsh hymns and choral riches.
As ever, the festival keeps its characteristic mix of music from a variety of genres. Pedair will make their hotly anticipated festival debut, with their fresh interpretations of Welsh folk music. Eädyth Crawford will bring her unique brand of electronic soul pop. And on the last night of the festival jazz trio Acoustic Triangle will provide a mesmerising finale. This year's Family Concert also promises to delight, as Toscana Strings bring their all-singing, all-dancing adaptation of Prokofiev's 'Peter and the Wolf' for the whole family.
