Tackling Climate Change – The Vale of Glamorgan Council’s Project Zero consultation

The Vale of Glamorgan Council will be holding online focus groups regarding their Climate Change Challenge Plan.

We will be holding four hour-long sessions.  Each session will be hosted by a different member of the Council’s senior management team and will provide an opportunity for discussion on the Council’s draft plan and what we can all do to tackle climate change.

To help with the discussions, each session will focus in on a different aspect of the plan and what we are looking to achieve to ensure that we cover the many issues relevant to climate change:

  • Wednesday 28th April 6pm – 7pm - Buildings and energy use - To manage and use our land, buildings and other assets to support work to tackle climate change, rationalising what we need and improving sustainability and energy efficiency.

  • Thursday 29th April 6pm – 7pm - Our impact on the land - To promote and enhance green/blue space, sustainable drainage, green travel routes, ecology and tree coverage through a Green Infrastructure Plan.

  • Monday 10th May 6pm – 7pm - Changing how we travel - To achieve a modal shift to more sustainable forms of transport with an increase in walking, cycling and the use of less polluting transport.

  • Tuesday 11th May 6pm – 7pm - The problem with waste - To reduce waste and put in place the necessary facilities, services and awareness raising for a more circular economy with a strong emphasis on reuse and recycling.

The sessions will be held via Zoom and will be limited to twenty people for each session, with places allocated on a first come basis.  If you are interested in attending one of the sessions which are open to the public and partners please complete the online booking form.  We will be in touch to confirm whether you have a place and provide joining instructions as soon as possible.

Our online survey is still open and we would encourage you to still provide us with feedback on the plan either by completing the survey which is available on the  consultation webpage or by sending your comments by the 12th May to projectzero@valeofglamorgan.gov.uk.
