Supporting Substance Misuse

If you want to help Wales’ substance misuse sector and wellbeing organisations put lives back on track, you’re in the right place.  We work with many of Wales’ key substance misuse and wellbeing charities, sending them the right volunteers to join their team.

We are looking for volunteers aged 18+ (for our generic volunteering project “VOLocity”) to place with our partner organisations across Cardiff and Vale, supporting individuals in recovery from substance misuse, mental health and wider wellbeing issues.

We have a large range of opportunities so we can match the organisation’s requirements to your skills and interests. Volunteering opportunities include volunteering in hostels, drop-in centres, needle exchange, treatment centres, group facilitation, working 1-to-1 with the elderly, mentoring a young person to supporting a yoga group.

You will need strong communication and listening skills.  Be caring and non-judgemental.  Have good interpersonal skills.  Be empathetic to those in need of support.  Be willing to learn.  Have the ability to maintain boundaries and adhere to confidentiality.

Time commitment: A suggested time commitment is a 3 – 4 hours per week, negotiable with the organisation.
Expenses reimbursed: Reasonable travel expenses are reimbursed.
Training provided: Full training is provided.
Selection procedures: An informal discussion, application form completion, 2 references and a disclosure and barring check (cost met by organisation).
If you are interested in this opportunity, please contact us using the form below.
