Volunteer as a Community Champion

What is a Community Champion?
A Community Champion helps connect carers with Carers Wales and promote awareness of caring by distributing publicity material – such as leaflets and posters within local communities. You must be aged 18+ for this role.

What’s Involved?

  • You’ll connect with libraries, pharmacies, GPs, sports clubs and shops asking them to display posters and leaflets

  • You may host information stands at supermarkets, hospitals, community hubs, faith meetings - anywhere you feel will reach unpaid carers to discuss caring and tell them what Carers Wales has to offer

  • We’d also want you to keep us informed about what you’ve been up to, feedback to us and let us know where you’ve been distributing materials

  • You’ll identify places in the community supporting people with long term conditions and supply them with our materials

We’ll give you more tips on how to get started in your volunteering pack. The choice on how you get involved is up to you.

The skills you’ll bring…

  • a friendly personality

  • great communication skills

  • the ability to get on well with people from all backgrounds

  • a passion for improving support for carers

  • good organisational skills and access to a computer

  • the confidence to use your own initiative

This is a great opportunity to meet new people, spread the word and have the satisfaction of making a real difference to carers’ lives in the area where you live. You’ll be part of our flagship volunteering programme and we’ll be supporting you all the way.

Time commitment: This role is very flexible. Our only requirement is that you offer a minimum of 2 hours per month.
Expenses reimbursed: Travel expenses are reimbursed.
Training: Full training is provided.
Selection procedure: An informal chat, application form completion and 2 references.
