Restrictions on visiting at UHL

Cardiff and Vale University Health Board has taken the decision to restrict visiting at our University Hospital Llandough site due to an increase in positive cases on three wards.

The cases have been identified through routine swabbing as part of our infection prevention and control processes. These measures have been put in place to ensure the safety of our staff and patients. By restricting footfall at UHL we will be able to contain the outbreaks and limit the risk of it spreading further.

We appreciate that this may cause anxiety for families or carers that wish to visit their loved ones in hospital and our staff will do their best to facilitate virtual visiting where possible. As per guidance on visiting, we will do all we can to accommodate, visits for end of life care, for a carers responsibility and for patients with a learning disability. Patient Experience will reinstate the drop off and collection service for patients belongings from Friday 8th October.

We hope the public understand our position and the need to restrict access early so we can contain any further spread. We are reviewing the situation regularly and will keep our website updated with further information.

We thank everyone for their patience and continued cooperation at this time.
