Penarth Food Pod Project Officer Post Vacancy

Vale Homes has recently launched its Food Pod in Penarth – we have some short-term funding to undertake some work to take the food project in the Vale to the next level and to gain a better understanding of Food poverty in the Vale as a whole.

This is an exciting initiative for someone passionate and wanting to make a difference.

FOOD POD PROJECT OFFICER

AGENCY WORKER

ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES

·       Complete a mapping exercise of local businesses, community groups and local organisations who would be willing to donate and contribute to the work of the Penarth Food Pod project.

 ·       Develop relationships with local primary and secondary schools regarding volunteering, donations that would contribute to the work of the Penarth Food Pod and Clean Slate project

 ·       Working with the Food Vale partnership and wider partners develop a Vale wide understanding of food poverty options and recommendations for future food related projects  

 Additional

 ·       Work with the Kick Start Project Assistant to promote the new Food Pod via Social Media and Council Webpages 

 ·       Work with the Community Investment and Housing team to support the new food pod in ensuring it is covered for all opening hours

 ·       Attend Clean Slate project meetings and Food Vale steering group meetings

 ·       Provide information gained on Food poverty as and when requested to the Community Investment and Housing Team

 ·       Ensure the mapping and wider information gained through the project is kept updated on spreadsheets/systems and is easily retrieval.

 OUTCOMES

 Outcome - to enrol a minimum of two businesses or local organisations 

 Outcome - to make contact with all local schools and as a minimum enrol one primary school and/or one secondary school

 Outcome – a joint report produced in conjunction with Vale Food Partnership providing a better understanding of food poverty / need in the Vale and recommendations of where / what future food poverty projects / initiatives in the Vale should be.

 We are looking to appoint for a start date of Tuesday 4th January, 2022.
