Park Road Houses Awarded with NHS Forest Award for Active Community Engagement

Park Road Houses, Cardiff and Vale’s 14-bed community rehabilitation unit, has recently been awarded with the NHS Forest Award.

Coming just months after securing a grant from Keep Wales Tidy to develop a Food Growing Garden, Park Road Houses has secured the NHS Forest Award for Active Community Engagement.

Highlighting the hard work and dedication of our colleagues, service users and volunteers at Park Road Houses to create an inclusive and vibrant green space, the garden at Park Road Houses has created a horticultural therapy space that fosters a nurturing environment for patients to engage in meaningful activities and aid in their healing process.

Speaking on the award win, Owen Baglow, Ward Manager at Park Road Houses, said: “We believe this achievement is not only a testament to our commitment to the community but also a wonderful opportunity to showcase the positive impact of our initiatives.”

Work started on the garden at Park Road back in August and the team have made fantastic progress in turning this space into a therapeutic environment that harbours the values of responsibility, teamwork and accomplishment.
