Opportunity: Project Manager - Community and External Relations

By doing things differently, we make a difference.

We are looking for someone to engage potential participants with our services, to forge relationships with partner organisations and to grow our external stakeholder relations so that we use every opportunity we can to increase our presence in our hub communities.

Since 2011, Forget-me-not Chorus – one of Wales’ leading dementia charities – has been organising weekly singing sessions for people with dementia and those who support them. We started in Cardiff, the Vale of Glamorgan and Newport, but have expanded our reach, to include North Wales and the rest of the UK too.  Although this role is South Wales based, you will be working in our hub regions: Cardiff & Vale, Newport, North Wales and Cornwall so travel will be required.

Our aim is to bring joy and laughter to those living with or alongside dementia.  Every member of our team is inspired by the difference music can make to people living with and alongside dementia, and we want to share our passion for singing, in a setting where everyone can feel happy contributing, whatever their ability.

Through our sessions, we hope to foster a sense of worth, and enrich the lives of those affected by dementia – by creating a new group of friends to belong to.  Through community choirs, care home choirs and specialist hospital services, our team of talented musicians reaches over 500 people a week. Those who benefit are of all ages, and include those with young-onset dementia and Alzheimer’s, their families, and those who care for them.  We also offer a library of free pre-recorded singing sessions - a specially designed singing services for care homes residents living with dementia.

The role will involve:

  • Developing  relationships with current participants, potential service users and partner organisations across our community hubs.

  • Managing session coordinators in each community hub.

  • Building excellent external stakeholder relations that will help grow the charity's service and reach in each hub area.

Terms:

  • 20- 25 hours per week, eight month fixed term contract (maternity cover)

  • £28k per annum pro rata (based on 35 hours per week)

  • Travel mileage, per diems and touring accommodation allowance

  • South Wales based.
